90s boy band 5ive has announced they’re looking for two temporary members to perform on stage with them at the Ellesmere Port Summer Jam, which is being held in Whitby Park in July.
The Summer Jam takes place on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July this year. The three remaining members of 5ive, Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville and Scott Robinson, will be taking to the stage on the Friday night. They will be joined by two lucky Ellesmere Port singers for one night only.
The band will be at the Grace Arms, which is opposite Whitby Park, on Thursday July 26th where they’ll be holding open auditions for the two additional slots. The band is looking for energy, passion and the ability to keep on movin to the group’s 90’s classics.
The two missing members of 5ive, Abz Love and Jason ‘J’ Brown, left the band some years ago and Ritchie Neville says he wants Ellesmere Port fans to experience the full 5ive experience, with five members.
He commented:
5ive with three doesn’t work as well. That’s why we’re looking for two Portheads to join us and perform some of our famous routines. The lucky duo will get a full four hours’ of training on the Friday morning, so don’t worry about not being prepared.
The band is asking that everybody get up to the Grace Arms at 5pm on July 26th, where auditions for the coveted two additional slots in 5ive will take place. Anyone from Ellesmere Port who wants to try out for the band is asked to be there at 3pm for registration, and auditions will commence promptly at 5pm and won’t finish until the time is through, or when the lights go out.
Stephen McMillan, one of the organisers of the event, believes this is a great opportunity for two people to slam dunk da funk.
I couldn’t believe it when Ritchie suggested it. I thought it was a joke. But he was like ‘no, man, for real’. What a coup for the Port! Someone’s going to get the chance of a lifetime.
If you’ve got the feelin that seeing three of the original members of 5ive, and two Ellesmere Port locals, performing some classic 5ive tracks sounds like your idea of heaven, you can book your tickets here.
