The Horse & Jockey, the oldest surviving pub in Ellesmere Port, is to be the stage for the start of Prince Henry of Wales’ (Harry, to his friends) stag do before his marriage to American actress Meghan Markle.

After leaving the Horse & Jockey, presumably in an even worse state than they found it, the prince and his friends will move on to Chester, touring the hostelries with a Welsh connection.

The news comes as something of a boost for Ellesmere Port, as the prince and his drinking chums are expected to spend in the region of £25,000 on alcohol in the Horse & Jockey alone.

It’s not known at this stage where Megan Markle will be holding her hen night, but it is expected to be somewhere in the United States, where most of her friends and family reside.

The prince is famous for his revelling and drinking, and was once snapped by paparazzi parading around a billiard table with semi-nude women while enjoying a game of ‘strip billiards’. It’s scenes such as these that Ellesmere Port residents can expect when the prince, his brother, father and his army pals descend on the town ready to enjoy his last night of freedom.
